Applying your Nail-Biter Stoppers™ (NBS) nail covers is a simple and effective way to protect your nails while breaking the habit. With proper preparation and a bit of patience, you can achieve a secure, natural-looking fit that lasts for several days.
The process becomes easier with practice. Below is a clear, step-by-step guide to help you get the best results.
1. Prepare Your Workspace and Nails
Before you begin, set up a clean, well-lit workspace. This helps minimize mistakes and keeps glue from getting on unwanted surfaces.
- Lay down paper towels or a protective cloth.
- Gather everything from your NBS kit: nail covers, nail glue, acetone wipes, alcohol wipes, and nitrile gloves.
- Clean your nails thoroughly using an alcohol wipe to remove oils, dirt, or residue. This step is important for strong adhesion.
- If you currently have nail polish or damaged nail edges, gently file or trim them first for a smoother surface.
- Work in a well-ventilated area, as nail glue and acetone can produce strong fumes.
Tip: If applying the covers yourself, wear gloves on one hand at a time. Wait at least 5 minutes after applying covers before putting a glove on that hand.
2. Consider Getting Help (Recommended for Beginners)
For the most precise and comfortable application, ask someone to assist you.
- A second person can apply the covers more accurately from a top-down view.
- They can wear gloves on both hands, reducing the chance of mistakes or glue getting on your skin.
- Many people find that having help (especially from someone who has encouraged them to quit biting) makes the process smoother and more reassuring.
If applying alone, take extra care and keep all items organized and within easy reach.
3. Choose the Right Time to Apply
Timing matters for good adhesion.
- Apply your NBS covers when you can keep your hands relatively still for the next 2–3 hours.
- We recommend applying 2–3 hours before bedtime. This gives the glue time to set properly while you sleep.
- The entire process usually takes about 10 minutes (faster with practice or help).
- Avoid applying right before activities that involve water, heat, or heavy hand use (such as washing dishes or exercising).
After application, try to avoid using your hands vigorously for at least the first hour.
4. Apply the Glue and Nail Covers

Press to secure
Use minimal glue — less is more for a clean and secure hold.
- Place a small drop of glue on your natural nail and spread it evenly.
- Select the correct size nail cover and practice positioning it above your nail first.
- Gently lower the cover onto the nail. You can make small adjustments by slightly rotating it before the glue sets.
- Press down gently for several seconds to secure it.
- If any glue seeps out, immediately clean it with an acetone wipe.
Work on one nail at a time to stay in control.
5. Allow Proper Adhesion Time
Patience during the first few hours is important for long-lasting results.
- After applying all covers, avoid heavy hand activity for at least 1–2 hours.
- Overnight is ideal — most users find the covers feel more secure after 5–10 hours of sleep.
- With proper application, NBS covers typically stay on for 3–7 days with normal daily use.

6. Maintenance and Reapplication
Your NBS covers are reusable as long as they maintain their shape.
- If a cover comes off, simply clean both the nail and the cover with an alcohol wipe, let them dry, and reapply.
- You can trim the covers to your preferred length using the nail cutter included in your kit.
If you experience any skin irritation from the glue, rinse the area with water and discontinue use. You can contact us at shussain.jtms@gmail.com for further guidance.
